Burbs, Buys, and Breakdowns: Week Ending 2/27/26
Welcome to Burbs, Buys, and Breakdowns - my new weekly series where I’ll share what I’m loving (and not), weigh in on pop culture moments, and tell real-life stories. After lots of trial and error, I’ve finally found a blog format that feels authentic, and I can’t wait to start sharing this new vibe with you.
Burbs
Not much happening in the burbs this week, except…Monday was our 9th wedding anniversary! We celebrated with my mother-in-law watching the kids while my husband and I enjoyed a romantic dinner at The Shanty in Wadsworth. It was only my second visit, and I LOVED it.
I had the honey-glazed plank salmon with mashed potatoes and broccolini, and we started with the goat cheese wontons - so good, a perfect balance of creamy and crispy. The espresso martini came garnished with three coffee beans (iykyk), and the peach-mango sangria was light and refreshing. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed, not too busy, probably because it was a Monday. Ya know? Several of their dishes have been featured on The Food Network, and after tasting them, I can see why!

Let’s break down The Traitors finale…shall we?!
I want to say I was shocked that Rob won, but honestly? I wasn’t. From day one, he was playing chess while everyone else was playing checkers. His gameplay was so calculated, so measured, so ruthless. Every move felt intentional. And I think that’s exactly why Maura looked as stunned as she did in those final moments, she trusted him. He played her right up until the very end, and even though it’s “just a game,” watching that realization hit her in real time was brutal.
The Johnny and Tara duo showing up strong in the final stretch was exactly what the Traitors needed. They brought suspicion and just enough disruption to keep things interesting. But let’s be real, if Mark hadn’t been murdered, Rob’s entire master plan might’ve unraveled. Mark was perceptive and was asking the right questions. Putting him in that coffin wasn’t just dramatic, it was necessary. The whole season felt like a slow burn at first, but once it picked up, it really picked up. What a ride.
As for the reunion…long. Very long. I tapped out early, but I did catch Colton’s explanation when Lisa called him out. And I’ll admit, it humanized him. After a season of feeling like the outsider (and facing a lot of scrutiny), seeing him articulate his growth added some depth. I’m not a Colton fan, but I do think he’s evolved since his time on The Bachelor, and I genuinely hope healing has happened on ALL sides since that chapter.
Now, Rob and Maura. I won’t lie, I was hoping for at least a crumb of romantic validation. But when Rob revealed he’s in an exclusive relationship, I wasn’t exactly stunned. He’s been talking about slowing down, building a family, and shifting priorities, which is sweet…but also, sir…you just orchestrated one of the most savage endgames we’ve ever seen. I’m slightly skeptical!
Very curious to see what he’ll do next + that helicopter jump?! It was giving Special Forces energy.
All in all, this was a chaotic, strategic, emotionally messy finale to a season that absolutely stuck the landing. Thoughts?!
